Powell McNeil, a Swindon-based business, contacted Total Cladding and Roofing for a practical and cost-effective solution to their ageing asbestos cement roof. With the original roof reaching the end of its service life and a limited project budget, a complete removal and replacement was not viable.

We proposed and delivered a high-performance overclad roofing system—a solution that extended the roof’s lifespan, enhanced thermal efficiency, and delivered long-term durability without the high costs and disruption associated with asbestos removal.

Project Solution

Our team specified a full overclad installation, which involved fitting new profiled steel roof sheets directly over the existing asbestos surface using a spacer system. This allowed us to upgrade performance while encapsulating the asbestos safely in situ—fully compliant with HSE guidelines.

  The building was flanked by a narrow side road that limited scaffold and material delivery options. We worked in close partnership with our scaffold provider to design a tailored access solution, ensuring smooth progress with minimal disruption.

• Live Operating Environment
  The facility remained operational throughout the works. We phased the programme to reduce impact on the client’s daily activity and maintained strict health and safety protocols on site.
